So tasty that you can’t eat just one!

MY COLOURFUL LIFE IN AUSTRALIA
Published by in Italian Cuisine ·
On Christmas Eve I was invited for dinner by my neighbours! For the occasion I prepared "Baci di Dama": hazelnuts cookies filled with chocolate! So tasty that you can’t eat just one!

According to my grandmother’s recipe, these are THE INGREDIENTS:
- 300gr chopped hazelnuts,
- 200gr sugar,
- 200gr butter,
- 300gr flour 00,
-  a pinch of salt,

THE STEPS TO GET THEM READY:
- knead the ingredients in a bowl,
- once the dough has become soft,
- refrigerate it for at least 2 hours,
- shape semi-circles with the dough,
- bake the semi-circles in the oven at 160° for 20’, - allow them to cool completely before filling, - meanwhile, put the chocolate into a small bowl and melt it, - put a dollop of melted chocolate on the semi-circle flat sides, and press them onto the chocolate

         And then ... enjoy!!!

Summer in December ...

MY COLOURFUL LIFE IN AUSTRALIA
Published by in Australia’s seasons ·
It was so unusual to walk along Melbourne CBD on a sunny day completely immersed in the Christmas spirit. The city was gaily decorated. People crazily popped in and out to the shops searching not just for presents but for relief too...: temperatures outside rose above 30° in Mid December...
That is basically because Australia’s seasons are the opposite to those of the Northern Hemisphere: Spring: September-November, Summer: December-February, Autumn: March-May, Winter: June-August.

Relax at the seaside!!

MY COLOURFUL LIFE IN AUSTRALIA
Published by in Leisure - Free Time ·
Best place to rest in Melbourne is along the seaside in St. Kilda. A short tram ride from the CBD brought me straight to the beach. Sitting on fine sand I felt I was part of a pastel impressionist painting:
The lights of the sunset coloured the city with its giant skyscrapers on the horizon. The waves of the sea rolled gentle and slowly.
The landscape was simply idyllic and the atmosphere was so peaceful that I could relax!!! :)

Hi Mate! What's up?

MY COLOURFUL LIFE IN AUSTRALIA
Published by in Mobile Network ·
Even if nowadays we communicate through sophisticated mobile phones and we are reachable at all times, in rural and remote Australian areas be prepared of not being connected with the world for a while. So "what's up" with limited mobile phones coverage? Easy peasy! To get a signal, keep driving to the nearest petrol station. Over there you may find landline telephones too. Incredible but true, they are not extinct yet. Some exemplars survive in Down Under. Any way, once you move to Australia, buy a pre-paid SIM card for your device. Among the major Australian mobile virtual network operators: Telstra, Optus, Virgin Mobile I was recommended to go with Telstra because it offers the best coverage.
